Got a Question?

We've put together a list of questions that we hear a lot from people interested in OpenCRM. If you've got a question that you don't see on the list below, try our LiveChat or head over to Contact Us to drop us a line or give us call.

OpenCRM was launched in 2005 and is still owned and operated by the same people who started it all. Our HQ is based just outside the picturesque market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, UK. Our customers range in size from start-ups, mid-market businesses to large corporate enterprises. Users of OpenCRM are based around the world and across all continents.

More About Us

We know that all businesses will use OpenCRM in different ways and we recognise that as such, every company will want to hold different information in their system. For example, you can add as many custom fields to your system as you need: showing, hiding, and rearranging both custom and system fields to best suit your business. These fields can be added in any module and, with 26 different types of custom field, you can tailor your system to meet your needs.

UK companies can pay by Direct Debit. We accept all major credit cards as well as PayPal. You can also pay by cheque or bank transfer. For Enterprise customers we can invoice you against a valid purchase order if this helps.

Direct Debit Set-up

No, OpenCRM subscriptions are based around the accepted principle of Pay As You Go. In other words, you pay a monthly subscription in advance and can cancel at anytime.

OpenCRM can integrate with a wide range of external applications, including Outlook, Google, Sage, Dropbox, and Jotform, just to name a few. If you're interested in learning more about any of these options, why don't you head over to our Integrated Features page to find out if one or more of OpenCRM's integration options are right for you?

All of our systems are based completely in the cloud, meaning that you can access them from any internet-connected device or computer. The data, system, and software to run the system are all held and run from our servers, all of which are located in the UK, as are all back-ups and back-up servers.

Further Details on Request

The data centres, which hold our and your data, are all based in the UK. They are all ISO 27001 accredited, the security standards used by banks and other financial service organisations, so you know your data are secure.

To cover all circumstances, we take nightly, weekly, and monthly snapshot backups of your data and hold these in a secondary facility.

Further Details on Request

Once you fill out the Online Sign-up or e-Sign a sales order (sent to you by one of our Business Development Team), you can expect to receive your system and the login details within about 30 minutes. Within a day or two, someone from our Project Management Team will be in touch to help get you started or to arrange any configuration or training you’ve purchased.

Great! Let’s Get Started

Yes. You own your data and as an Administrator can export your information at any time. If you decide that OpenCRM is not for you, for whatever reason, we provide a full MySQL database backup as part of the termination process.

What else can I do?

Yep, its all yours, so use it as you feel works best for you. The reason for providing this level of storage, which is so much more than our competitors, is to make working with OpenCRM that bit easier - you don’t have to worry about overage charges. If you need to upload large files as part of your business processes, that's fine. The last thing you want is a surprise bill because your team is 'actually' using your CRM system.

Is that more than Salesforce?

We offer a number of, what we call, Professional Services, including Training, Configuration, Bespoke Development, Data Import, etc, that are there to ensure your system fits your needs and that you feel confident using it. You can, of course, carry out your own configuration and data import if you prefer.

Find Out About Our Services

Our support department is always on hand to answer any questions you might have about your system. You can get in touch with them via email, LiveChat, through our Customer Portal, or over the phone (depending on your support plan).

They’re happy to help with the simple how-to questions as well as the more involved configuration questions.

What Are My Options?

Of course! We have systems ranging from 1-2 users all the way up to many hundreds of users and they can all be logged in at the same time with no drop in performance.

No Per User Cost?

All OpenCRM systems, no matter which subscription plan, are created with all the available modules you see in the demo. If you don’t need to use one or more of them right now, you can always hide them (or just hide them from individual users or teams). If you decide to expand into any of these modules in the future, it’s easy to re-enable the ones you’d like to use.

Not Seen the Demo Yet?

The honest answer is that we don't issue refunds for services legitimately purchased, but equally we don't want to be unfair if you have a genuine request.

In most cases the important thing is to cancel your subscription at the earliest opportunity, if you don't tell us that you are leaving, then we won't know. If you make a payment by accident, perhaps you cancelled too late in the billing cycle, let us know, where appropriate we will work with you on a case by case basis so that you remain happy.

Give us a call.

Sadly, we’re not quite there yet, but we are always developing new and exciting features aimed at making your life that little bit easier.

Credit Funding in Ope…

Earlier this week, we completed a minor release that will be bringing some exciting new features and enhancements to our customers’ systems over the coming weeks. You can find a little introduction to the two big ticket items over in our version release news story and further details will be available to all our customers in the release notes, published on our own customer portal. But I want to talk about one of the “minor” features that will be included in...

Business Efficiency –…

One of the main purposes of using a CRM is to promote your business efficiency – let you concentrate on running your business whilst the CRM takes care of processes and data management. Because of this, we are mindful that shortcuts and ease of use are keys to a successful CRM implementation and as a result we are always developing enhancements here and there to make the user experience that much slicker. As we prepare to launch the latest updates to...

Avoiding Holiday Chao…

Year end is here, hooray, you made it! But along with all the reporting and financial fun (not) that you have to tackle at this time of the year, there’s one more job that needs to be managed: the holiday rush. No, that the Christmas holiday rush, but the one where everyone suddenly remembers that they have a few days of holiday to use up and are desperate to organise “just a few days off.” In the last month of the financial year…and...

Being Part of the Com…

This can be a very difficult balance, do you do this just to gain some recognition or is a genuine effort to add something to your community or the place where you work? My son came to me recently as a coach of an under 8’s football team and asked if we would like to sponsor the kids with a new strip. After a short conversation, we decided that we would be delighted to and it would be a great thing...

Cloud Perspectives – …

Cloud storage is a big step towards streamlining your business. It allows you to store your client details and other information in a manner that is accessible from anywhere, at any time. You can build up a great web of data by interlinking Companies and Contacts with all manner of actions, sales details and support requests, helping you build a complete customer profile. Just like those clients, your own business is not a static entity - you are constantly evolving. Staff...

Having the Right Pers…

It is a common pitfall, especially in the tech industry, to assume that known tasks are therefore easy tasks. That just because you know how to do something (and that everyone in your office knows how to do the same thing), it is actually common knowledge. What do I mean by this? Let me give you an example: I was recently having a conversation with one of our developers about a new piece of software I wanted to introduce and had been...
