Y3P: Bringing Everyone Together

8 Jun 2015

Today marks the start of an exciting week for OpenCRM and friends. On Saturday a team of us are tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge walk, aiming to complete the marathon circuit in under twelve hours.

I am looking forward to this for a number of reasons. Firstly and foremost, the spirit is going to be great. Support, developers, projects, sales, account managers and even the bosses; everyone is on an even keel here as we get together and offer each other encouragement on the walk. As well as the hikers we have people performing support duties – helping provide supplies and cheering the walkers on. We each play a role and every person is as important as the other.

Secondly as a Y3P “veteran”, I am looking forward to walking in this incredibly scenic part of the country again, and it amazes me that we have this on our doorstep – right on the edge of silicon dale!

Just as in office life, the team aspect will be what keeps the well-oiled machine working. Map-readers will help guide the way, team leaders will keep an eye on the general well-being of the team members, and others will no doubt carry more than their share of supplies. Using those natural resources we can all contribute to something far greater than our individual abilities could achieve.

Finally our fund-raising efforts have been a real source of motivation, as we attempt to raise £1000 for PAPYRUS, a charity that addresses the issue of young suicide. We have had some local coverage on the airwaves with a feature on Star Radio, and even had a message of motivation recorded for us by Clare Balding!

Keep an eye on the blog this week as we update you on our preparations for the big day.
