How do Targets work in OpenCRM? how can I set up Targets for the Users in my Organisation?

Updated: 01 November 2012 17:05:44 OpenCRM::Opportunities OpenCRM::Invoice OpenCRM::Settings

Targets can be set up within OpenCRM, they can be set to run on the Invoices or Opportunities module. The Target is an indicator of the percentage of business targets met for a particular period.

When they are set up they show on the screen as a graphic in the Sidebar.

Here is how you can set up Targets.

In the Settings page, click on Additional Settings and then scroll to Target Settings:

 Here you can set up the parameters for your Targets - as shown in the screenshot above. You can select whether to run targets based on Opportunities or Invoices.

When you have set up these basics, you can click on Save, and return to the Settings page. You can now go to the Configuration section and click on Set Up Targets. This pops up a new screen which displays the targets you have set for the Company and broken down per User and per Month.

In the screenshot above you can see the Annual Target that is set per User and a breakdown on a month by month basis to show how the Target is made up. To set or edit these Targets you can click on a monthly figure which pops up a further screen where you are able to set individual Targets for the various Opportunity Types (see the note below on setting the Opportunity Types). From the screen above we have clicked on the Target for the month of June for User tomc.

As the screenshot shows, the Target sum of £2000 is made up of £1000 for Existing Business and £1000 for New Business Opportunities won.

NOTE: To set these different Opportunity Types (e.g. New Business, Existing Business etc.) go to the Settings Page > Picklist Settings > Edit Opportunity Picklist > Edit Business Type

These Targets then need to be displayed on the page of the individual User. This is done by editing the Target Settings on the User Account.

This will then set the Target to be displayed in the Sidebar on the User's pages. For information on how to set the Sidebar elements please refer to this FAQ:

http://opencrm.co.uk/crm-knowledgebase/kb1032461/Can-I-customise-the-sidebar-elements-on-my-screen-How-doI-do-this.html

The Display will look something like this before any Opportunities have been won or any Invoices closed, depending on the Settings selected. Using the drop-down menu you are also available to view targets for different time periods, and for the whole company. This gives you a quick way of comparing performance.

For demonstration purposes, we have now closed an Opportunity for User tomc worth £1000. As you can see in the screenshot below the Target has changed to reflect the User closing an Opportunity worth £1000 for the month where the overall Target of £2000 has been set:

As well as providing a quick graphic indicator of performance, Targets can be used in conjunction with Bonuses and Comissions. For further details please refer to the following FAQs:

Commissions: http://opencrm.co.uk/crm-knowledgebase/kb1126917/How-can-I-set-up-Commissions-for-Users-within-OpenCRM.html

Note on Pipeline Graph Setup : If you go to Settings > Configuration > Pipeline Graph Settings - You can specify which of your own Opportunity Business Types fall into the three categories that are displayed on the Graph, these are New Business, Re-new/Repeat Business and Other Business. The following image shows the screen that allows you to set this association.
